Robert Goddard is generally known as the usherer of the space age but it is not only him that is a noteworthy pioneer in the field of rocketry. There are others like the german hans Bethe,and the Russian Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. These men's work and others' form the great basis on which all the advancement of rocketry in the 20th and 21st century lean. This list considers top six greatest of such achievements in the field of rocketry in the 20th century

Russia's Konstantin Tsiolkovsky publishes his groundbreaking scientific paper "exploring space with reactive devices" 

This was one of the first greatest achievements made by Russians in the field of rocketry. It was the first article that proved that rockets could perform space flight and created a lot of inspiration in the scientific field of rocketry for the Russian scientists. This is one of the first scientific papers that stimulated interest in the field of rocketry and encouraged more research. This achievement by Tsiolkovsky can be said to be one of Russia's greatest contribution to rocketry in the 20th century.

Robert Goddard publishes his two papers on rocketry.

Robert Goddard published these ground shaking papers on rocketry at a time when people didn't see such feats as achievable. He published "a method of reaching extreme altitudes" in 1919 in which he argued that if the technology described in the papers were used to build a rocket big enough and which was primed with fuel that was powerful enough it was possible to reach the moon with it. Future works or efforts in the field of rocketry relied heavily on the methods and technology Dr.Goddard described in his paper. His published scientific paper proved to be of great importance to 20th century rocketry. 1750 copies were distributed world wide.

Russia launched Sputnik one and the USA the smaller explorer one.

The Sputnik one was Russia's first ever launched rocket as well as the first rocket to be ever launched.the launch of the Sputnik one into space made it possible for scientists to obtain valuable information even though the satellite was not equipped with sensors. This was one of the major breakthroughs in rocketry in the 20th century.

The same year the USA launched explorer one and it was launched as part of USA participation in the international geophysical year. Explorer one was launched Jan  3 1958 and it remained in orbit until 1970.no doubt this helped scientists a lot to make new discoveries about the outer space. So these two rocket launches have been to the field of rocketry as cannot be overemphasized.

4. Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin becomes the first human being in space 

The cosmonaut named above was the first to be put into space in the year 1961,when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the earth for which he was awarded many medals and titles including the hero of the Soviet Union, the nation's highest honor. The great feat he achieved was really a milestone of progress in the field of rocketry. Months after that America's Alan Shepard was put into space. Many other rocketry achievement followed his achieved feat. It has helped man in his study of the outer space object and bodies And has given birth to other ground breaking discoveries in the field of rocketry. We cannot the role Gagarin's achieved feat has served to rocket scientists all over the world.

5. TThe spacecraft Apollo eleven was launched by a Saturn v rocket. It put the first men on the moon.

This happened when the spacecraft was launched into the moon carrying Neil Armstrong and other astronauts. It was during this time that Armstrong muttered the immortal words "that's one small step for man,one giant leap for mankind".he also said during an interview that the experience has made  him very very small. This was something to be seen as great. It is no ordinary achievement. It opened up to man new worlds and it really made american proud. This is an achievement that 21st century rocketry would not have done without the role of importance it has played in the field of rocketry continues to last beyond the 21st century.

6.the united States launches the first space shuttle.

This was a feat achieved on April 12 1981,when space shuttle Colombia sts-1 soared into orbit from NASA's Kennedy space center in Florida. This mission was piloted by navy test pilot Bob crippen who would go on to command three future shuttle missions.

This great by USA NASA has been of immense importance to mankind. Since the study of space has been made a lot easier by this great achievement. The

 Shuttle was launched on April 12 1981 and returned on 14april 54.5. Hours later having orbited the earth 37 times.
